Villa Nautica recognised at the TTM Awards 2024 for MICE
There are resorts in the Maldives that work well for holidays, and others that work well for groups.
Very few manage both without one side interrupting the other.
That balance is part of what brought Villa Nautica recognition at the TTM Awards 2024, where the resort was named Best MICE Destination.
The category covers meetings, incentives, conferences and events, although the term itself feels broader than what actually happens on the island. At Villa Nautica, business events rarely stay inside a conference room for long.
Why does Villa Nautica suit group events?
Villa Nautica combines short airport access with dedicated meeting spaces, making it practical for conferences, corporate retreats and incentive groups.
The location does a lot of the work.
After landing in Malé, guests reach the resort by speedboat in around twenty minutes. That changes the tone of a business trip immediately. There’s no domestic transfer, no second airport, no long wait before the programme begins.
For organisers, that simplicity matters.
Groups arrive together more easily. Schedules hold better. Even shorter stays become workable because less time disappears into logistics.
Once everyone is on the island, movement becomes straightforward. Meeting spaces sit close to restaurants, outdoor areas and the beach, so the day flows naturally instead of feeling segmented.
What are the event spaces like?
Villa Nautica offers a mix of larger conference venues and smaller private spaces designed for meetings, presentations and corporate gatherings.
Dhinasha Conference Hall is the centre of it.
The space holds up to 460 guests and is equipped for larger presentations, conferences and seminars. However, it doesn’t feel overly corporate once people are inside it. Natural light softens the room during the day, while the island setting outside stops the atmosphere from becoming too enclosed.
Elsewhere on the island, smaller spaces shift the mood again.
The Reyva Boardroom works for focused meetings and executive discussions. Roanu VIP Lounge feels quieter, more private, and often ends up being used as much for conversation as formal sessions.
That variation helps.
Not every event needs the same energy all day long.
What happens outside the meetings?
Groups at Villa Nautica often combine meetings with dining experiences, watersports, spa treatments and outdoor events across the island.
This is usually where the island changes the dynamic.
A conference session ends, and within minutes people are outside again. Some head towards the beach. Others stay around the pool or move straight into dinner. Conversations continue, although they become less formal once the setting changes.
That transition happens easily here.
Beach dinners, sunset cruises and watersports often become part of the wider programme, especially for incentive groups. At the same time, Araamu Spa gives guests somewhere quieter to step away from the pace of the day.
Nothing feels too separated from the rest of the island.
That’s what makes the resort work particularly well for this kind of travel. The business side exists, but it never completely takes over the stay.
